Damon and Pythias
Based upon the classic Greek story, the film tells the tale of Pythias, an Athenian who believes in the philosophy of brotherly love and his friend Damon, a roguish character who also believes that all men are brothers. When Pythias is sentenced to death for crimes against the king of Syracuse, he is allowed to travel back home to get his affairs in order, as long as Damon stays in his place and that he returns by the appointed date. Even though the king thinks he's a fool for taking his friend's place, Damon is convinced that Pythias will returned as promised, even though it means his death.
